Finding Feathers is founded by Crystal Dunbar.
Crystal has over 19 years of personal and professional experiences with the foster care system, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, Anxiety, Depression, mental health support, trauma recovery and healing.
Her experiences (personal and professional) have taught her that no two healing journeys are the same. When it comes to mental health support, healing and trauma recovery, there are no quick fixes and no one-size-fits-all approach, that works for everyone. This is why all of her offered programs and sessions are completely customized to fit each individual's needs and goals.
Crystal is a shaman, medicine woman, peacekeeper, intuitive healer, as well as an animal and nature communicator/healer.
She is devoted to being a safe, sacred space for all Beings while helping and teaching them to heal (physically, mentally, and spiritually) in a way that works for them, she also encourages them to reconnect with nature, and reclaim their own power.
Melissa is the owner of New Leaf Farms.
Crystal and Melissa both work out of the beautiful, healing farm helping clients on their individual journeys.

Spirit is a 19 year old quarter horse and is the leader of our heard. She's had a challenging past. When she became part of our family, she was distant, antisocial and anxious. We learned that she had been through 6 homes in 18 months. She also had untreated hoof pain which must have been excruciating. With treatment, daily handling and lots of love, Spirit has become one of the most empathetic and social horses we have. She is sweet, loving, and has a spirit that cannot be tamed, helping others to embrace their authentic free spirit.
Andis is a 15 year old Spotted Saddle Horse. He is the second in command in our heard. Andis came to us after working hard as an extreme trail horse in Kentucky. Upon his arrival, Andis wouldn't allow anyone to touch his head or face. We discovered that he has vision loss on his left side and had been treated very roughly. He had trouble trusting humans, and didn't know how to give or receive affection. That has changed- though he is still reserved, he can be a real sweetie. He is brave, driven and very professional. Andis always makes sure the humans who are interacting with him feel safe.
Willow is a 12 year old thoroughbred mare. Willow was formally a race horse, then she took on the role of mom to 3 beautiful foals. Her kids have since grown up and it's Willow's time to shine. She is a sweet and sensitive girl with lots of love to share.
Named after Spiderman, Peter Parker is a sweet, willing and silly horse. He came to us after being rescued by a wonderful and generous benefactor. She found him as a neglected stallion; dangerous to handle, untrained and with undiagnosed physical deformities. Peter Parker joined our farm family in October 2021. He is named after the superhero due to his quirky, fun attitude and his distinctive gait. He has been diagnosed as sickle-hocked, a condition that over-flexes his back legs. This limits the weight of the rider he can carry. His swinging walk doesn't bother him at all, and it's a fun change to traditionally built horses. Peter always tries his best, and is a true cuddlebug, he will climb right into your heart. Even at age 7, he can be sassy and have an attitude at times.
Zach is a big boy, but he doesn't let his size define him. As a Percheron/ Fresian cross, Zach fills his stall pretty well. You might assume that he would be a confident, boisterous leader, but Zach is not as he appears. He is very sensitive, cautious and takes time to warm up. Though he is trained to ride, Zach will spend the next few months working on his confidence and polishing his groundwork skills before going under saddle. He is gentle and quietly curious. At 19, Zach has a lot of life left to live. He has been lovingly cared for throughout his life. We look forward to getting to know him better.
Jamie is a 8 year old, beautiful Bashkir Curly horse. Even his eyelashes have curls! When Jamie was sent off for training we soon learned he had a more complicated past than we expected. He was treated roughly as a youngster, resulting in high reactivity and anxiety. We decided instead of rushing him through training to bring him home to mature and develop at his own pace. He has a sweet temperament and a huge heart. Given time, he will be a wonderful riding horse in the future. For now he's our sweet, silly, fun-loving man. Jamie has started slowly training under saddle and is doing great!
Veya is an 8 year old Thoroughbred. 3 years ago Veya left our farm to join another family as a show horse. When she was put up for sale, we jumped at the chance to bring her back home. She is an incredibly sweet, high energy horse who loves to play in the field with her horsey friends.
Amy is a 9 year old miniature horse. She is gentle and kind, and always up for a makeover! She loves children and is very patient and kind. Amy will do anything for treats, so we try to make sure that she is involved in lots of physical activities during sessions.
Chance was the foal of our miniature mare Faith. Faith sadly passed away when Chance was only 3 days old. Melissa took on raising this little pipsqueak, including bottle feeding around the clock and daily walks around the property, for his first 4 months of life. Chance is now 6 years old. He is currently working through his adolescence, so he switches from delightful to super sassy in the blink of an eye. Change is amazing at helping people work on their boundaries. He may be a bit silly, but he is our spoiled farm baby.
Sweet Barbara came to us at a time of need. With an orphan foal (Chance), we needed a milk source and goats milk was the perfect fit! Now she enjoys her retirement roaming the fields in search of delicious treats. Barbara is a shy girl who is appreciates quiet interactions and scratches. She always has a beautiful smile to share with those who need it.
Brian from HR is our resident human resources specialist. He is constantly interrupting every personal interaction that does not involve him. He offers support in times of need, counsel in times of conflict and will stand with you as long as your fingers can scratch him.
Meet Damien, Alfred and the elusive Ryan. Our barn cats vary from obsessively cuddly (Damien) to completely invisible (Ryan) to suit every cat interaction preference. They all show their love in their own way.
Brandis, Smokey, Stashy and Potato are happy to welcome you to visit them in Guinea Pig Manor, their large cage with seating area. They love to sneak up and steal carrots and other delicious treats from your hands. Although young, these brothers are quickly warming up to humans.
You will also hear and see our feathered friends around the farm. Maurice is the boisterous barn rooster who is usually calling and looking for his girlfriend, London, who is either with him, in the stalls with the horses or outside munching on some bugs.
These feathered friends are calm, gentle and help a lot of people work through their fear of birds, just by being around them.
To ensure confidentiality of clients, and the safety of visitors and animals, we ask that you make an appointment before coming to the farm. Please DO NOT drop in to visit, you may be interrupting someone else's session.
Please message us to plan your visit.
